Thank you for inviting me to tell about our lodge which is ideally situated for my Birding Pals and of course all the pals that I hav'nt met yet.
Makapa Lodge is centrally situated on the narrow part of the Western Cape Peninsula overlooking the "Noordhoek Wetlands".and the "Silvermine" mountain range, all forming part of "Table Mountain National Park".
At equal distance from Simon's Town, Kommetjie, Fish Hoek and Noordhoek. There are several boating companies for birders to go out and see Antartic/Pacific seabirds. The African Penguin colony at Boulders beach is an atraction in our area.
It is very worthwhile to mentiion that one of our guests spotted 80 species of birds in our garden, which lies against the slpoe of a mountain forming part of Solole Game Reserve. Many of the "Fynbos" species have been spotted at our doorstep. The diversity of birds from the African Fish Eagle, the Spotted Eagle Owl to the Cape Sugarbird is enormous in this part of the world.
At Makapa Lodge we take you out to a variety of birding hikes early in the morning, but when you want to take it easy you are also welcome to enjoy our special and voluptuous breakfast, not to mention the homely admosphere, which invites you to stay longer than you actually booked for!
