Using the Birdingpal resources you must agree to the following: If you contact a local Birdingpal and make arrangement to go birding, you should note it is common courtesy to make sure you show up for the appointment. If for any reason you are unable to do this, the least you must do is contacting the local Pal right away.
Please note that most Birdingpals are serious birdwatchers. It is a privilege to contact them, and your message should reflect it. A local Pal does not get paid, but should he/she offer to take you out birding, using their own vehicle, it would be courteous to pay for the fuel. A lunch and/or a small gift would also be appropriate, something as simple as a souvenir of your country, or a pin from your local birding club.

I have lived on the Magdalen Islands all my life and have been birding since 1991. We find on average 200 species a year. The total species recorded so far for the islands is over 320 species. The endangered breeding species are: Piping Pplover (only nesting grounds remaining in Quebec ) the Roseate Tern and the Horned Grebe, Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow. Also nesting on the island is a small colony of Black-headed Gulls. Bird Rock and Brion Islands located 32 and 16 kilometres from the main islands offer spectacular views of the many Northern Gannets, Common and Thick-billed Murres
also Black-legged Kittiwakes and Atlantic Puffins. The thick-billed Murre colony is the most southernly in North America. Also a
good numbers of shorebirds (26 species) are seen during each fall migration (August-September).

The island of Montreal is surrounded by nature areas where birds can be seen congregating especially during the migratory season. There is also an urban forest on Mount Royal in the middle of the city where many birds can be spotted (hawks, creepers woodpeckers).
I am an archaeologist and a Scout leader so I have long enjoyed nature and the outdoors. I am a casual member of Bird Protection Quebec which organizes many outings and activities which are free and open to the public.
Areas where I like to bird are Parc des Rapides (ducks, osprey, eagles, kestrel, kingfisher) Ile Bizzard (ducks, bittern, sandpipers, grebes) Mount Royal Cemetery (Eastern Bluebird boxes are set up) and Summit Woods (warblers in May & there is a resident Screech Owl).

Sainte-Julie is close to Montréal, on south shore. I can conduct birders in most of Southern Québec province to places where specially interesting species are living. I’m retired and always glad to help visitors to see target birds if they can be tolerant with my poor spoken English.

My husband and I enjoy birding part time. We are both working full time. We like photographing birds and enjoy travelling to see new lifers. Our local birding excursions are mostly in Ottawa, Canada's capital, just across the river.
