Local Birdingpal Contacts
Local Birdwatchers
Using the Birdingpal resources you must agree to the following: If you contact a local Birdingpal and make arrangement to go birding, you should note it is common courtesy to make sure you show up for the appointment. If for any reason you are unable to do this, the least you must do is contacting the local Pal right away.
Please note that most Birdingpals are serious birdwatchers. It is a privilege to contact them, and your message should reflect it. A local Pal does not get paid, but should he/she offer to take you out birding, using their own vehicle, it would be courteous to pay for the fuel. A lunch and/or a small gift would also be appropriate, something as simple as a souvenir of your country, or a pin from your local birding club.

I am sort of an intermediate birder. Been doing it for years but only serious recently.
D Landau Carbondale Anytime English
Carbondale is located in the middle of the Rocky Mountains.
D Emmons Colorado City Anytime English
I've been birding for a number of years and enjoy it tremendously, but am by no means an expert. Colorado City and surrounding southeastern Colorado area is a wonderful birding destination, with well over 400 species on the local Audubon chapter checklist. The mountains and plains meet here and birds from north and south wander into the area.
C Clouse Colorado Springs Anytime English
I'm a former bird-researcher, now educator and trip leader at several birding festivals around the country. In Colorado, I'm best in foothills, montane, and alpine habitats but know the desert, grassland, and water birds pretty well too. If I'm busy, I can at least point you in the right direction for your target birds. Welcome to CO!

K Hopf Fort Collins Anytime English
I think of Ft Collins as being a well kept secret as far as birding goes. We have miles of access to the Poudre River along a bike trail which traverses woods and fields. A lot of ponds are in the area as well as close to Loveland,CO which has Boyd Lake and miles of access along the Big Thompson River. Horsetooth Mtn Park, Lory State Park, Bobcat Ridge are nearby good birding areas. If one goes East to Pawnee grasslands, different birds are found. I have been a avid birder for years and love to share this appreciation of birds.

While not a master birder, I'm competent in the Rocky Mountains, and can find out easily whatever may be helpful. Not always available (traveling!). One hour from Rocky Mountain National Park, and Indian Peaks Wilderness. One hour away from great plains/grassland areas. Note that many high altitudes not easily accessible Nov to May.
J Oberbeck Northglenn Anytime English
I have been birding for my entire life, my mother got me into it and it has become my passion. I am willing to work with anyone given enough notice. I am available anytime. Northern Colorado is my strong point, but I am very connected in the CO birding community. Can easily learn about areas in Southern Colorado.
L Cunningham Palisade Anytime
S Green Palmer Lake Anytime English
Scrub country at edge of coniferous forests, with prairie to east. Small town between Denver and Colorado Springs. Hiking trails in Greenland Open Space and in Pike National Forest. 3 kind jays, 2 kind Towhees, raptors, Mountain Chickadees and Bluebirds. 7225' elevation. I am a retired single lady and prefer to bird only with female birders or couples.

The Pueblo Colorado area is full of a variety of birds because we have high elevation habitats in mountains, to prairie habitats and the largest reservoir in Colorado with a surprising number of gulls, ducks and other water fowl.
B Macurda Southwest Colorado (Summer only) Anytime English
I am a geologist by trade. My wife and I have birded on 7 continents. My life list is over 2000. We live in Spring near Houston from Oct.-April. I am often absent consulting. In the summer we live in SW Colorado from May-September and my availability is much better.
W Senske Vail(Summer only) Anytime English/poco Espanole
Mid May to mid Oct: Vail Colorado. Summer birding in the mountains is a little more vigerous then on the coast, but see some fabulous birds from time to time. Bird Photography is my hobby and I am retired.
