Local Birdingpal Contacts
Local Birdwatchers
Using the Birdingpal resources you must agree to the following: If you contact a local Birdingpal and make arrangement to go birding, you should note it is common courtesy to make sure you show up for the appointment. If for any reason you are unable to do this, the least you must do is contacting the local Pal right away.
Please note that most Birdingpals are serious birdwatchers. It is a privilege to contact them, and your message should reflect it. A local Pal does not get paid, but should he/she offer to take you out birding, using their own vehicle, it would be courteous to pay for the fuel. A lunch and/or a small gift would also be appropriate, something as simple as a souvenir of your country, or a pin from your local birding club.

I am 45 years old, from Simbai - Madang Province. Simbai is 1200m above sea level. People are pygmy like, average 150cm. I have a Post-Graduate Degree from Univesity of PNG. Married and former governor of this Province in PNG Parliament between 1997 and 2001. My people speak Kalam and is spoken by more than 25000 people. Simbai is located between in the Bismarck Ranges. The area has a rugged terrain, with a rainy season that begins in November and ends in June/July. I was born in Simbai in the Madang Province. Simbai is 1200 meters above sea level and the exact location of the birds congregating spot is about 3 hours south east from Simbai Station. The river is unique in a sense it is salty and the saltiness of the river or stream attracts all types of birds. The name of the river is called "Tumbi Chemb" (salty water= in local dialect). MAF, Island Airways and Central Aviation provide air services to Simbai.

I live and work in Kiunga, a town beside the Fly River of Western Province, Papua New Guinea. I started my interest in bird watching in 2006 with Kiunga Nature Tour - a bird watching tour company here. However I am really interested in providing relevant informations that other Birdingpals will require about birding in Western Province and especilly birding tour in the Tonda Wildlife Management Area, which have international borders with Kakadu Nat. Park (AUS) in the south and Wasur Nat. Park (INDO) to the west.
