Hotel Parador Taguapire El Palmar, Bolivar If you are looking for Harpy Eagle, this is the place to stay. Not 5 stars, but comfortable, and Senora Janny, the owner, will make sure you are looked after. She even cooks for you. Knud Rasmussen, Birdingpal
Hotel Miramar Suites Playa Grande Av. Este 2. Entre Av. Este y Circunvalacion Norte. Catia La Mar. Estado Vargas, Caracas I stayed at this hotel the first night during my birdwatching tour to Venezuela Feb 2013. Located close to the international airport it is convenient, if you are traveling inland. A bit tired, but safe, everything is working and they have a nice restaurant. Knud Rasmussen, Birdingpal
Costa Real Suites Calle Jardin Botanico Urbanizacion Tanaguarena, 1165 Caraballeda, Caracas I stayed at this hotel the last night during my birdwatching tour to Venezuela Feb 2013. Located 20 minutes away from the international airport it is convenient, well equipped and a friendly staff. More expensive, than Miramar Suites, but I think it is worth the extra money. Posada Casa Vieja Mérida The Posada Casa Vieja Merida Lodge is a birder friendly guesthouse a few minutes away from the Sierra Nevada national park with his famous Humboldt trail at the subtropical cloud forest, where there are very good chances to see Quetzals, Trogons, endemic Antpittas and Hummingbirds as well Tanagers. The guesthouse is runned by the Birdpal Joe Klaiber. The base to his birding tours is in the Andes in Merida and almost daily birdwatching excursions are leaving from them to the Andes and to the plains to Los Llanos to see birds and wildlife. De la Costa Eco-Lodge Ocumare, El Playon
Campamento-Restaurant Turístico Rápidos de Kamoirán, Sabana Grande Located in the middle of Sabana Grande it is a convenient place to stay, when you are doing some serious combat birding.
