Poland

U Sienkiewiczów Narew (about halfway between Bialystok and Bialowieza). This charming, cheap and simple (bring your own towel!) and very friendly place is located in a wonderfully quiet location with lots of birds -- Barred Warbler bred on site when we visited in 2010. The nearby Narew and Narewka rivers and adjacent meadows make for first-rate birding on foot (Corncrake, Montague's Harrier, Rosefinch, ...). It's also possible to rent canoes there for an excursion on the rivers. Birdingpal D. Orn, Germany
