Argentina

*LoiSuites Arenales
Arenales 855, Buenos Aires
Located downtown, well managed with bilingual staff I have used this hotel several times. Wireless internet in all suites and reasonably priced.
*Art Hotel
Azcuenaga 1268, Buenos Aires
A hotel with a great location and price but we did not think the rooms where much to write home about (I think we had the smallest room in all of Argentina) so make sure to ask about your room first. Staff speaks English.
*Carilo Village
Carpintero y Divisadero, Parque Carilo, Buenos Aires
Located 250 km south of Buenos Aires on the Atlantic coast, this is a great place to spend a few days to relax after a lot of birding in Argentina. Well equipped, great food but not too much English by the staff. Ask for Silvia, the assistant manager who speak English silvia@yahoo.com.ar
*La Chacra B&B
Esqual, Chubut
A small hosteria owned by a woman of Welsh decent, who speaks English and Gaelic very well. She offered us a home cooked dinner that night and we had the best empanadas ever.
*Hostal de la Luna
La Cumbre, Cordoba
A charming small and maybe slightly worn inn located on the outskirts of La Cumbre is a nice place to spend a few days, when you bird the province of Cordoba. Gustavo Raimondo the owner takes well care of his guests and speaks Spanish, Italian and English.
*La Posada de la Laguna
Carlos Pellegrini, Corrientes
This is a great place to stay for a few days and I had some of the best birding in Argentina here. Miriam makes sure there is plenty of good food to eat with a bottle of wine. If you are driving you will need a SUV or truck to get in there or you can fly to Posadas and they will arrange local transportation.
*Grand Hotel Guarani
Mendoza 970, Corrientes
Large hotel located downtown Corrientes is good for a stopover. Staff speaks English and they have a good restaurant.
*Alejandro 1 Hotel
Paso de los Libres, Corrientes
Driving to Buenos Aires from Iguazu this is a good place to stay for a night. A little tired but every thing works and the food is good. If you want to bird this part of Argentina you can stay for a couple of nights and the price is right.
Irupé Lodge
Carlos Pellegrini, Corrientes
Posada Aguape**

*Hosteria Pascana lugar de destano
Los Perales 4600, San Salvador de Jujuy
The owner Ana Maria Parodi makes sure your are welcome in this spotless B&B located in a residential neighborhood and you can bird in the garden.
Eco Portal de Piedra
Santa Bárbara, Jujuy
Our place is a Natural Private Reserve and Birdingpals are guided around here free, but we do have the cabins for lodging.
Hosteria Suyana
Av. Arturo Illia 655/563 Los Perales, San Salvador de Jujuy
*Grand Hotel Balbi
Las Heras Av 340, Mendoza
Grand Hotel Balbi located in the downtown area and is a very confortable and friendly hotel.
*Orquideas Palace Hotel
Ruta 12, Puerto Iguazu, Misiones
Located downtown, well managed with bilingual staff I have used this hotel several times. Wireless internet in all suites and reasonably priced.
*La Postal del Cazador
San Martin de los Andes, Neuquen
A small somewhat tired chalet type hotel. For 400 pesos per night I think it was a bit overpriced.
Hotel St. George
Ave Cordoba 148 Puerto Igauzu
The local Birdingpals recommend this hotel, but I did not stay there. They tell me it’s OK and the price is right.
Hostel Piuke Mapu
Patagonia
Rio Manso Lodge
Patagonia
*Faro Punta Delgada
Península Valdés, Rio Negro
The nature was stunning and different to anything I have seen. The star here is of course whales, but we were too early for them and had to be satisfied with the many elephant seals and sea lions. Plenty of lesser Rhea, Elegant Crested Tinamou and of course Magellanic Penguin. Many seabirds such as three different kinds of cormorants, gulls, two kinds of Oystercatchers etc.
Plenty of Guanacos, Patagonian hare, Maras and even a family of Patagonian Fox one of the kitchen staff was feeding with scraps of meat.
Lodge Los Barrancos
El Calafate - Provincia de Santa Cruz
*Garden Hotel
Callao 45, Santa Fe
A comfortable reasonable priced downtown hotel close to every thing.
Villa de Merlo
Sierra de Comechingones - Provincia de Santa Luis
*Vila Lolette Hotel Resort
Villa Nougues, Tucuman
Vila Lolette is a restored old mansion located in the small village of Villa Nougues with a beautiful view of the valley below and San Miguel de Tucuman. With, what we think, the best beds in Argentina it is a very nice place to spend a couple of days and in the restaurant we had the best beef during the whole trip.
