Local Birdwatchers
Please note that most Birdingpals are serious birdwatchers. It is a privilege to contact them, and your message should reflect it. A local Pal does not get paid, but should he/she offer to take you out birding, using their own vehicle, it would be courteous to pay for the fuel. A lunch and/or a small gift would also be appropriate, something as simple as a souvenir of your country, or a pin from your local birding club.

Actually the checklist of the birds of Guadeloupe is 258 species, 74 are nesting, 1 is endemic (the Guadeloupe Woodpecker), 13 are endemic of the Lesser Antilles, 8 are non native but have self sustainable populations. Personnaly I lived in Guadeloupe for 10 years and observed 215 species (I found 30 new species for the island). I worked on the Petite-Terre Nature Reserve (a small off-shore island of only 150 hectares) for 7 years and this is a great place to find rare migrants during spring or like some European species (Corn Crake, House Martin, European Whimbrel, etc).
