| I am a professional birdwatcher with 17 years experience birding in Gambia, Senegal, Guinea Bissau and Conakry. Born in a village 316 km from the capital city in 1968, attended Bansang primay school, then entered St Augustine high school and became a French and general science teacher for one academic year. I then studied reception technology in the Gambia hotel school before working for a ground tour operator (West African Tours Ltd) for four years and finally became more and more interested in bird life. The Gambia is situated in the furthermost west of Africa strectching some 400km east to borders of Senegal and Guinea southwest. There are 570 species of birds and the country is definitely a paradise for birds as there are habitats for the residents, intra-african and palaeartic migrants between October and April. | ||||||
