Using the Birdingpal resources you must agree to the following: If you contact a local Birdingpal and make arrangement to go birding, you should note it is common courtesy to make sure you show up for the appointment. If for any reason you are unable to do this, the least you must do is contacting the local Pal right away.
Please note that most Birdingpals are serious birdwatchers. It is a privilege to contact them, and your message should reflect it. A local Pal does not get paid, but should he/she offer to take you out birding, using their own vehicle, it would be courteous to pay for the fuel. A lunch and/or a small gift would also be appropriate, something as simple as a souvenir of your country, or a pin from your local birding club.

I’m a birder, from Helsinki, Finland. I’m interested in photography and nature, especially stars. I don’t own a car, but the public transportation is cheap and good here in Helsinki. The best time for birding in Finland is from April to summer solstice (21.6. day length is about 19 hours, in winter it is less than 6 hours), when the birds are returning and the nights have much light. Also the early autumn is a nice time for birding in Finland. In the middle of Helsinki there is a wetland where you can listen to many different birds in the silence.

I have had birds as hobby for 30 years. Typical landscape for Central Finland are lakes and deciduos forests. There are not any rarities nesting here, but e.g. Siberian Jays (perisoreus infaustus) and during rodent einters man different species of owls can be hearded here. Our locan birdwatchers association is active andd there are many bird towers in vicinity.

I'm 49 years old. Been birding since I was twelve. It is definitely my main hobby.
If I have free time, I go birding.
I'm interested in languages and speak 4 fluently and know the basics of another 4.
I’m a birder and the Editor of Linnut, the main birding magazine in Finland.
Nowadays I prefer birding and ringing in my local patch and nearby, but I also
regularly travel abroad for birding. I’m happy to spend some hours or a day
with any birder visiting western parts of Uusimaa.
Lohja is situated less than an hour from Helsinki or the airport, between
Helsinki and Turku. Lake Lohja and dozens of smaller lakes and ponds together
with different types of forests and farmland create a variety of biotopes
offering always some interesting birds depending on the season.
Area:
Lake Lohja, Karkali nature park, several nature trails etc.
