Local Birdingpal Contacts
Local Birdwatchers
Using the Birdingpal resources you must agree to the following: If you contact a local Birdingpal and make arrangement to go birding, you should note it is common courtesy to make sure you show up for the appointment. If for any reason you are unable to do this, the least you must do is contacting the local Pal right away.
Please note that most Birdingpals are serious birdwatchers. It is a privilege to contact them, and your message should reflect it. A local Pal does not get paid, but should he/she offer to take you out birding, using their own vehicle, it would be courteous to pay for the fuel. A lunch and/or a small gift would also be appropriate, something as simple as a souvenir of your country, or a pin from your local birding club.

J Russell Kolossi Anytime English
Was the WSBA Consevation Group bird recorder 89-92. Back on island now until 2011 living in the Kolossi area. I visit Fasouri (Phasouri) most days, Zakaki, Bishop's Pool, Akrotiri, Episkopi. I'm happy to meet up with anyone if I'm given a day or two notice.
I had an excellent day birding with Jack Russell on Cyprus. Jack knows all the roads and paths on the Akrotiri peninsula and with his 4x4 car all of these are accessible. He visits the hotspots on the peninsula every day so he knows the actual state of the birds. Of course the actual 'score' during migration is partly luck, because the birds move on. Besides being an excellent birder with a sharp eye for everything that moves, he is also very friendly and I enjoyed being his company very much. I surely would recommend everybody to contact Jack before going to the island. Anton Duijnhouwer, the Netherlands.

With in easy reach of the S and SE of the island. Mirgation hotspost such as the Akrotiri Peninsular, Larnaca Salt Lakes and Cape Greco.
D Rhoads Necosia Weekend English
I am an American ex-pat living in Cyprus, been birdwatching for a while now, having seen some 230 of the 380 or so bird species ever seen in Cyprus. I'm particularly familiar with the South and Southeast portions of the island (between Akrotiri and the Cape Greco peninsula), and several good sites in the Trodos mountains.
