Local Birdwatchers Using the Birdingpal resources you must agree to the following: If you contact a local Birdingpal and make arrangement to go birding, you should note it is common courtesy to make sure you show up for the appointment. If for any reason you are unable to do this, the least you must do is contacting the local Pal right away. Please note that most Birdingpals are serious birdwatchers. It is a privilege to contact them, and your message should reflect it. A local Pal does not get paid, but should he/she offer to take you out birding, using their own vehicle, it would be courteous to pay for the fuel. 		Grand Bahama Island has a birding population of more than 200 species during migration including resident and Bahamian Specialty birds. The island has three national parks as well as a tropical Garden, a beautiful shoreline and vast mangrove wetlands. Birding sites are accessible by car and there are many good trails for walking. I was born in Germany and have lived on Grand Bahama Island for 43 years where I founded Grand Bahama Nature Tours, operator of Kayak, Snorkel, Biking, Jeep and Birding experiences. The company won the most prestigious award in Tourism, the Cacique Award, for excellence in nature-based activities. I am a Bahamas Birding Guide,certified by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. I regularly write birding articles for the media and have published a "Guide to Vegetation and Birds of Grand Bahama" We spent our first day on this beautiful island with Erika - and we had an amazing time birding, touring the island and learning about the island's natural resources. She is a great resource and we added at least a dozen birds to our "life list". We will be talking about this trip for years to come - thank you Erika! 		As a qualified Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Birding Ecotour Guide, I have been offering birding tours on New Providence, Paradise Island and other Bahama islands since 1997. My location is Nassau on the island of New Providence, offering half and full day tours locally and also overnight or multi-day tours to other islands. For more than 10 years, I have coordinated the Bahamas National Trust Ornithology Group that offers morning field trips on the first Saturday and also beginners trips on the third Saturday of each month, September through May, on New Providence and Paradise Island, $1 per person. Contact me for time and place to meet. The Ornithology Group also organizes spring and fall field trips to other Bahamian islands.
